In 2022, the average cobalt export price amounted to $66,669 per ton, with an increase of 42% against the previous year. In general, the export price showed a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average export price increased by 56% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the highest price was recorded for prices to Japan ($69,278 per ton) and Germany ($68,676 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($59,539 per ton) and the Netherlands ($63,232 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the UK (+20.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cobalt Price in Norway (CIF) - 2022
