Coal Production

Coal production is the process of extracting coal from underground or open-pit mines. It is a vital source of energy, as coal is used to generate electricity, produce steel, and manufacture cement. Surface mining, on the other hand, is used for shallow coal seams. The two main methods of surface mining are open-pit mining and mountaintop removal mining.

After coal is extracted, it undergoes processing to remove impurities and improve its quality. This may involve crushing, screening, and washing the coal. The processed coal is then transported to power plants, steel mills, or other industries where it is used as a fuel or raw material.

Coal production has significant environmental and health impacts. The burning of coal releases greenhouse gases, contributing to climate change. Coal mining can also lead to deforestation, land subsidence, and water pollution. Miners are exposed to various occupational hazards, such as respiratory diseases and injuries.
