Coal Fired Boiler Power Plant

A coal-fired boiler power plant is a type of thermal power station that produces electricity by burning coal to generate steam. The steam produced by the combustion of coal in the boiler is then used to drive a steam turbine which is connected to a generator to produce electricity. Steam turbine: The high-pressure steam from the boiler is directed onto the blades of a steam turbine. As the steam flows over the turbine blades, it causes them to rotate.
Generator: The rotating turbine shaft is connected to a generator, which converts the mechanical energy from the turbine into electrical energy.
Cooling system: The steam from the turbine exits the turbine at a lower pressure and temperature. It then enters a condenser where it is cooled and converted back into water.
Water treatment: The condensed water is purified and then returned to the boiler to be converted into steam again in a continuous cycle.

Coal-fired boiler power plants have been widely used for decades due to their reliability and cost-effectiveness. However, they also have several environmental drawbacks. The combustion of coal releases various pollutants into the atmosphere, including sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), and carbon dioxide (CO2), which contribute to air pollution and climate change.
