The average chlorides; of magnesium export price stood at $5,992 per ton in August 2023, increasing by 248% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a buoyant increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 1,412% against the previous month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $18,034 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Kazakhstan ($143K per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan ($457 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+29.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average chlorides; of magnesium import price amounted to $366 per ton, growing by 19% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a pronounced downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when the average import price increased by 29% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $743 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($1,868 per ton), while the price for the Netherlands ($226 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Chlorides; of Magnesium Exports in France
For the fourth year in a row, France recorded growth in overseas shipments of chlorides; of magnesia, which increased by 16% to 5.1K tons in 2022. In value terms, chlorides; of magnesium exports contracted to $8.8M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a abrupt shrinkage.
