In August 2023, the average chlorides; of aluminium import price amounted to $743 per ton, with an increase of 9.5% against the previous month. In general, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from September 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.1% over the last eleven-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, chlorides; of aluminium import price increased by +17.8% against June 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 82% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1,068 per ton. From November 2022 to August 2023, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was India ($839 per ton), while the price for China ($396 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,740 per ton. From 2020 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Germany ($1,860 per ton), while the average price for exports to New Zealand ($805 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+14.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
