The average chipped non-coniferous wood import price stood at $494 per cubic meter in 2022, growing by 48% against the previous year. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a resilient expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2016 an increase of 52%. The import price peaked in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($3,336 per cubic meter), while the price for Russia ($151 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+8.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Chipped Non-Coniferous Wood Imports in Azerbaijan
In 2022, purchases abroad of non-coniferous wood in chips or particles decreased by -15% to 401 cubic meters, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a deep slump. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 39% against the previous year. In value terms, chipped non-coniferous wood imports soared to $198K in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of $200K. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
