Cheese and Curd Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average cheese and curd import price amounted to $5,181 per ton, dropping by -2.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 3.1% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,491 per ton in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,264 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($4,827 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Uruguay (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cheese and Curd Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023
The average cheese and curd export price stood at $6,043 per ton in September 2023, reducing by -16.9% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 26% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $7,296 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,927 per ton), while the average price for exports to Paraguay ($4,494 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Cuba (+6.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cheese and Curd Imports in Brazil
In 2022, the amount of cheese and curd imported into Brazil expanded modestly to 33K tons, picking up by 3.9% on the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.7% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 10%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
In value terms, cheese and curd imports surged to $166M in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +8.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 21% against the previous year.
In value terms, cheese and curd exports stood at $25M in 2022.
