Cereal Germ Price in Slovakia (FOB) - 2022
The average cereal germ export price stood at $537 per ton in 2022, picking up by 6.2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when the average export price increased by 40%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $578 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($565 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Czech Republic ($455 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (-0.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.
Cereal Germ Price in Slovakia (CIF) - 2022
In 2022, the average cereal germ import price amounted to $2,181 per ton, surging by 7.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, continues to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 an increase of 1,429%. The import price peaked at $4,216 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Hungary ($4,024 per ton), while the price for Ukraine ($682 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+27.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Cereal Germ Exports in Slovakia
In 2022, the amount of cereal germ exported from Slovakia was estimated at 16K tons, approximately equating 2021 figures. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when exports increased by 3.3% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 16K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, cereal germ exports rose notably to $8.6M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +18.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +66.1% against 2019 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 37% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Cereal Germ Imports in Slovakia
For the third year in a row, Slovakia recorded decline in purchases abroad of cereal germ, which decreased by -9.8% to 33 tons in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The smallest decline of -5.7% was in 2021.
In value terms, cereal germ imports declined slightly to $73K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a slight shrinkage. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 9.5%.
