Cereal Germ Price in India (CIF) - 2023
In February 2023, the average cereal germ import price amounted to $546 per ton, with a decrease of -2.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price faced a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 7.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $4,675 per ton in March 2022; however, from April 2022 to February 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Indonesia.
From March 2022 to February 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Indonesia amounted to -2.0% per month.
Cereal Germ Price in India (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average cereal germ export price amounted to $1,389 per ton, dropping by -2% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, posted a perceptible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 an increase of 64%. The export price peaked at $1,418 per ton in 2021, and then dropped modestly in the following year.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Sri Lanka ($2,610 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kenya ($547 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+11.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Cereal Germ Imports in India
After three years of growth, purchases abroad of cereal germ decreased by -39.7% to 943 tons in 2022. Overall, imports, however, saw a significant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 263% against the previous year.
In value terms, cereal germ imports declined remarkably to $558K in 2022. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 232%.

In 2022, overseas shipments of cereal germ decreased by -20.8% to 413 tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, exports saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 6.7%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 690 tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, cereal germ exports contracted notably to $574K in 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a drastic downturn. The smallest decline of -3.8% was in 2020.
