Ceramic Tile Price in South Africa (CIF) - 2022
The average ceramic tile import price stood at $3.3 per square meter in 2022, surging by 4.6% against the previous year. In general, the import price, however, showed a mild curtailment. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 17%. The import price peaked at $3.9 per square meter in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Spain ($8 per square meter), while the price for Tanzania ($1.3 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Zambia (+6.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

The average ceramic tile export price stood at $3.9 per square meter in 2022, dropping by -9.7% against the previous year. Over the period from 2012 to 2022, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.7%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average export price increased by 21%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4.3 per square meter, and then declined in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Namibia ($6.6 per square meter), while the average price for exports to Lesotho ($1.9 per square meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Namibia (+16.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ceramic tile imports into South Africa declined to 35M square meters in 2022, shrinking by -12.2% on the year before. In general, imports recorded a perceptible shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 40M square meters, and then fell in the following year.
