Breakfast Cereal Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023
The average breakfast cereal export price stood at $3,787 per ton in August 2023, which is down by -4.5% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.8%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 20% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,154 per ton in June 2023; however, from July 2023 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($4,955 per ton), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($2,730 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+4.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Breakfast Cereal Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average breakfast cereal import price amounted to $3,216 per ton, rising by 8.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated moderate growth from August 2022 to August 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on August 2023 figures, breakfast cereal import price increased by +8.7% against July 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 an increase of 41% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,372 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($4,214 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($819 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+6.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Breakfast Cereal Exports in Poland
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of breakfast cereals decreased by -7.4% to 164K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +2.1% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 11% against the previous year.
In value terms, breakfast cereal exports totaled $534M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 12% against the previous year. The exports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in years to come.
