Bread and Bakery Price in Thailand (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average bread and bakery export price amounted to $3,606 per ton, rising by 4.8% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $3,814 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($6,324 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia ($1,484 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to China (+4.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Bread and Bakery Price in Thailand (CIF) - 2022

The average bread and bakery import price stood at $3,722 per ton in 2022, picking up by 6.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 7.2%. The import price peaked at $3,931 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($8,271 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($2,496 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Malaysia (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Bread and Bakery Exports in Thailand

For the fourth year in a row, Thailand recorded growth in overseas shipments of bread and bakery, which increased by 4.5% to 157K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +6.1% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations being observed in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

In value terms, bread and bakery exports amounted to $567M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +7.0% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

Bread and Bakery Imports in Thailand

For the fourth consecutive year, Thailand recorded growth in supplies from abroad of bread and bakery, which increased by 11% to 75K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated resilient growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +52.2% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 22% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, bread and bakery imports skyrocketed to $277M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +16.1% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +56.4% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
