Boron and Tellurium Price in Costa Rica (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average boron and tellurium import price amounted to $21,917 per ton, waning by -31% against the previous year. Over the period under review, import price indicated mild growth from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, boron and tellurium import price increased by +33.7% against 2020 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when the average import price increased by 94% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $31,900 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for the United States.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the United States amounted to -4.4% per year.

Boron and Tellurium Imports in Costa Rica

In 2022, supplies from abroad of boron and tellurium decreased by -65.7% to 12 kg, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Overall, imports faced a sharp setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 27%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 76 kg. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, boron and tellurium imports contracted notably to $263 in 2022. Over the period under review, imports faced a dramatic decline. The smallest decline of -9.8% was in 2020.
