Beer Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023

The average beer export price stood at $811 per thousand litres in July 2023, with a decrease of -3.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated a temperate expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, beer export price decreased by -10.1% against May 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average export price increased by 21% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $902 per thousand litres in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Russia ($1.6 per litre), while the average price for exports to Germany ($553 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+5.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beer Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023

The average beer import price stood at $999 per thousand litres in July 2023, remaining constant against the previous month. Overall, import price indicated temperate growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, beer import price decreased by -0.7% against May 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 16% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $1.0 per litre in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Ireland ($1.9 per litre), while the price for Germany ($791 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beer Exports in Poland

In 2022, overseas shipments of beer decreased by -9.4% to 396M litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 14% against the previous year. The exports peaked at 437M litres in 2021, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, beer exports contracted to $239M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 23% against the previous year. The exports peaked at $268M in 2021, and then shrank in the following year.

The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +7.8% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 17%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, beer imports rose remarkably to $86M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
