Beer Price in Brazil (FOB) - 2023

The average beer export price stood at $668 per thousand litres in September 2023, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 11% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $746 per thousand litres in July 2023; however, from August 2023 to September 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Chile ($873 per thousand litres), while the average price for exports to Uruguay ($563 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Bolivia (+1.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beer Price in Brazil (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average beer import price amounted to $1.1 per litre, which is down by -19.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a slight expansion from September 2022 to September 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2023 figures, beer import price decreased by -19.8% against August 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 76% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $1.4 per litre in August 2023, and then fell sharply in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Ireland ($1.8 per litre), while the price for Paraguay ($313 per thousand litres) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Argentina (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Beer Exports in Brazil

In 2022, overseas shipments of beer decreased by -13.6% to 201M litres for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Over the period under review, total exports indicated prominent growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +16.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +56.3% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 36% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 232M litres in 2021, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, beer exports dropped to $120M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated a remarkable increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +14.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +49.5% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 42% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $132M, and then shrank in the following year.

Beer Imports in Brazil

In 2022, approx. 15M litres of beer were imported into Brazil; with a decrease of -19.1% against the year before. Overall, imports saw a dramatic decrease. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 8.1% against the previous year. Imports peaked at 46M litres in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, beer imports shrank to $15M in 2022. In general, imports saw a dramatic decline. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 4.8% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum at $45M in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
