Battered Fish Fillet Price in Norway (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average battered fish fillet import price amounted to $5,856 per ton, waning by -8% against the previous month. Over the period from August 2022 to August 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $6,478 per ton in May 2023; however, from June 2023 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Poland ($12,009 per ton), while the price for Germany ($4,586 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Poland (+3.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Battered Fish Fillet Price in Norway (FOB) - 2022
The average battered fish fillet export price stood at $8,550 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -2.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 41%. The export price peaked at $15,720 per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($25,380 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($5,132 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Switzerland (+12.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, supplies from abroad of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs decreased by -11.5% to 4K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 7.2%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 4.8K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, battered fish fillet imports fell to $21M in 2022. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 11%.

In 2022, overseas shipments of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs decreased by -25% to 346 tons for the first time since 2018, thus ending a three-year rising trend. Overall, exports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when exports increased by 79% against the previous year.
In value terms, battered fish fillet exports shrank markedly to $3M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, saw a strong increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 80%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $4M, and then declined rapidly in the following year.
