Battered Fish Fillet Price in Italy (CIF) - 2023
The average battered fish fillet import price stood at $5,644 per ton in July 2023, reducing by -2.9% against the previous month. Over the period from July 2022 to July 2023, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.7%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 12% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $5,811 per ton in June 2023, and then contracted slightly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Morocco ($8,340 per ton), while the price for Germany ($4,570 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the average battered fish fillet export price amounted to $10,385 per ton, increasing by 10% against the previous month. Over the period under review, export price indicated tangible growth from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.1% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, battered fish fillet export price increased by +3.6% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 180% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs in July 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($17,082 per ton), while the average price for exports to Cameroon ($4,540 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Australia (+15.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, overseas purchases of fish fillets in batter or breadcrumbs decreased by -9.7% to 39K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports recorded a noticeable decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 3.6% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 44K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
