Ball Bearing Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

In July 2023, the import price in the United States amounted to $19,354 per ton, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a noticeable expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.0% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, ball bearing import price increased by +2.8% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the import price increased by 24% against the previous month. The United States import price peaked at $20,204 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to July 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major importing countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($63,136 per ton), while the Philippines ($4,328 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+6.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In July 2023, the export price in the United States amounted to $332K per ton, stabilizing at the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a pronounced expansion from July 2022 to July 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, ball bearing export price increased by +22.4% against April 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in January 2023 when the export price increased by 51% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the export prices reached the maximum at $334K per ton in June 2023, and then fell modestly in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Canada ($642K per ton), while Australia ($94,106 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+7.6%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

Ball Bearing Imports in the United States

In 2022, approx. 99K tons of ball bearings were imported into the United States; picking up by 31% on 2021. Over the period under review, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +15.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +69.7% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, ball bearing imports rose notably to $1.4B in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +3.1% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 29% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.
