Baby Food Price in Poland (FOB) - 2023

The average baby food export price stood at $7,087 per ton in August 2023, standing approximately at the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in January 2023 when the average export price increased by 22% m-o-m. The export price peaked in August 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Russia ($15,509 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($5,026 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Ireland (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Baby Food Price in Poland (CIF) - 2023

The average baby food import price stood at $5,344 per ton in August 2023, falling by -5% against the previous month. Over the last twelve-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.2%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 an increase of 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $5,832 per ton in April 2023; however, from May 2023 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($8,322 per ton), while the price for Ireland ($4,580 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Ireland (+2.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Baby Food Exports in Poland

In 2022, overseas shipments of food preparations for infants increased by 7.3% to 54K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, exports, however, continue to indicate a pronounced slump.

In value terms, baby food exports rose rapidly to $290M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being observed throughout the analyzed period. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

Baby Food Imports in Poland

For the fourth year in a row, Poland recorded growth in purchases abroad of food preparations for infants, which increased by 22% to 44K tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 45% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in years to come.

In value terms, baby food imports rose rapidly to $195M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a significant increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +24.6% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +93.6% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 42%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in years to come.
