Artificial Staple Fibre Price in Switzerland (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average artificial staple fibre import price amounted to $15,610 per ton, with an increase of 7.9% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +3.2%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2013 an increase of 20%. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs in 2022 and is expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($33,579 per ton), while the price for Italy ($5,736 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

The average artificial staple fibre export price stood at $9,051 per ton in 2022, growing by 42% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, continues to indicate a noticeable decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2018 an increase of 89%. The export price peaked at $11,847 per ton in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major export destination, the average price level is determined by prices for the UK.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for Germany amounted to -4.0% per year.

Artificial Staple Fibre Imports in Switzerland

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of artificial staple fibres increased by 47% to 27 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a slight setback.

In value terms, artificial staple fibre imports surged to $425K in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +74.1% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
