In 2022, the average artificial graphite import price amounted to $3,533 per ton, leveling off at the previous year. In general, the import price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the average import price increased by 33%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $3,855 per ton. From 2015 to 2022, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Italy ($10,529 per ton), while the price for Panama ($134 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Artificial Graphite Imports in Venezuela

For the third year in a row, Venezuela recorded decline in supplies from abroad of artificial graphite, which decreased by -36.2% to 16 tons in 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a dramatic contraction. The smallest decline of -23.8% was in 2021.

In value terms, artificial graphite imports declined sharply to $57K in 2022. Overall, imports showed a dramatic curtailment. The smallest decline of -20.7% was in 2020.
