Artificial Graphite Price in Romania (FOB) - 2023
In June 2023, the average artificial graphite export price amounted to $1,585 per ton, increasing by 47% against the previous month. In general, export price indicated a buoyant expansion from June 2022 to June 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.9% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on June 2023 figures, artificial graphite export price increased by +81.6% against March 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 48% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum in June 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2023, the country with the highest price was Germany ($16,565 per ton), while the average price for exports to Slovenia ($802 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Germany (+36.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In June 2023, the average artificial graphite import price amounted to $6,245 per ton, increasing by 3.4% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a tangible expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 when the average import price increased by 152% m-o-m. The import price peaked at $8,537 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to June 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was France ($27,656 per ton), while the price for Italy ($1,999 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From June 2022 to June 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Netherlands (+11.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Artificial Graphite Exports in Romania
Artificial graphite exports from Romania fell remarkably to 6.6K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -52.1% on the year before. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when exports increased by 164% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 14K tons, and then reduced sharply in the following year.
