The average artificial graphite import price stood at $2,287 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -4.6% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price saw a perceptible setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2013 when the average import price increased by 72%. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $4,845 per ton. From 2014 to 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was India ($6,686 per ton), while the price for Turkey ($906 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by India (+15.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Artificial Graphite Imports in Ethiopia
In 2022, supplies from abroad of artificial graphite increased by 60% to 3.2 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. In general, imports, however, faced a precipitous descent.
