Aromatic Hydrocarbons Derivatives Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

The average aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives import price stood at $1,589 per ton in August 2023, shrinking by -21.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price recorded a deep contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 58% against the previous month. The import price peaked at $3,464 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($3,678 per ton), while the price for Germany ($1,037 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Japan (+0.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

Aromatic Hydrocarbons Derivatives Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

In August 2023, the average aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives export price amounted to $7,374 per ton, remaining relatively unchanged against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw mild growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 121% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $14,517 per ton. From June 2023 to August 2023, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($11,716 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Philippines ($1,333 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+3.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Aromatic Hydrocarbons Derivatives Imports in the United States

In 2022, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports into the United States soared to 111K tons, surging by 16% on the previous year. In general, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, aromatic hydrocarbons derivatives imports surged to $278M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +10.3% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +93.9% against 2020 indices. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
