Argon Price in Switzerland (CIF) - 2022
The average argon import price stood at $0.7 per cubic meter in 2022, with a decrease of -23.5% against the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.5%. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 33%. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1 per cubic meter, and then fell rapidly in the following year.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was France ($1.3 per cubic meter), while the price for Germany ($0.6 per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+0.1%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Argon Price in Switzerland (FOB) - 2023
The average argon export price stood at $786 per thousand cubic meters in August 2023, stabilizing at the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 22% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the maximum at $923 per thousand cubic meters in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to August 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($768 per thousand cubic meters), while the average price for exports to France totaled $660 per thousand cubic meters.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+1.2%).
Argon Imports in Switzerland
In 2022, argon imports into Switzerland totaled 2.9M cubic meters, flattening at the year before. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 43% against the previous year.
