Argon Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022
The average argon import price stood at $660 per thousand cubic meters in March 2022, declining by -34.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, enjoyed mild growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in November 2021 when the average import price increased by 73% month-to-month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $1.7 per cubic meter. From December 2021 to March 2022, the average import prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Singapore ($1.2 per cubic meter), while the price for China stood at $577 per thousand cubic meters.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+1.0%).
Argon Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022
In March 2022, the average argon export price amounted to $726 per thousand cubic meters, reducing by -4.7% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated perceptible growth from March 2021 to March 2022: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.9% over the last twelve-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on March 2022 figures, argon export price decreased by -4.7% against February 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 21% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $763 per thousand cubic meters in February 2022, and then declined modestly in the following month.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In March 2022, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($742 per thousand cubic meters), while the average price for exports to Singapore amounted to $591 per thousand cubic meters.
From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Thailand (+3.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Argon Imports in Indonesia
In 2022, the amount of argon imported into Indonesia rose markedly to 36M cubic meters, increasing by 8.5% against 2021. Overall, imports recorded notable growth. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by 111% against the previous year. Imports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, argon imports skyrocketed to $53M in 2022. In general, imports recorded significant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 212%. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the near future.

Argon Exports in Indonesia
After three years of growth, shipments abroad of argon decreased by -60.9% to 1.6M cubic meters in 2022. In general, exports continue to indicate a deep slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 50%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 4M cubic meters, and then declined significantly in the following year.
In value terms, argon exports reduced remarkably to $1.2M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated tangible growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +3.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
