Apple Price in Lithuania (CIF) - 2023

In September 2023, the average apple import price amounted to $442 per ton, declining by -34.8% against the previous month. Overall, the import price continues to indicate a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 an increase of 151% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $679 per ton in August 2023, and then contracted significantly in the following month.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Italy ($1,489 per ton), while the price for Latvia ($269 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Italy (+2.0%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Apple Price in Lithuania (FOB) - 2022

In 2022, the average apple export price amounted to $606 per ton, increasing by 15% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 an increase of 62%. The export price peaked at $679 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by country of destination: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Russia ($1,057 per ton), while the average price for exports to Poland ($281 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Poland (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Apple Imports in Lithuania

In 2022, supplies from abroad of apples was finally on the rise to reach 41K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +10.2% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, apple imports totaled $14M in 2022. In general, total imports indicated a measured expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports decreased by -24.9% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 when imports increased by 50% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of $19M. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.

Apple Exports in Lithuania

Apple exports from Lithuania dropped markedly to 3.2K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -48.7% against 2021. In general, exports continue to indicate a precipitous decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 1.5% against the previous year.

In value terms, apple exports dropped rapidly to $1.9M in 2022. Overall, exports saw a precipitous contraction. The smallest decline of -10.2% was in 2020.
