Animal Fats Price in Colombia (FOB) - 2022
The average animal fats export price stood at $5,621 per ton in 2022, shrinking by -21.6% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a abrupt descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 35% against the previous year. The export price peaked at $14,892 per ton in 2016; however, from 2017 to 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was New Zealand ($20,876 per ton), while the average price for exports to Chile ($439 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the United States (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average animal fats import price amounted to $3,838 per ton, falling by -64.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, continues to indicate a modest increase. In 2022, the amount of animal fats and oils exported from Colombia surged to 2K tons, picking up by 25% against the year before. In general, exports recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 119%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 2.1K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, animal fats exports shrank slightly to $11M in 2022. In 2022, purchases abroad of animal fats and oils was finally on the rise to reach 26 tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Overall, imports saw a resilient increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
