Ammonia Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
The average ammonia export price stood at $696 per ton in January 2022, surging by 24% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed resilient growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2021 an increase of 24% month-to-month. The export price peaked in January 2022.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Finland ($846 per ton), while the average price for exports to Estonia ($518 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Sweden (+17.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Ammonia Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average ammonia import price stood at $37,633 per ton in 2021, with an increase of 84% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 when the average import price increased by 13,630% against the previous year. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $44,071 per ton. From 2019 to 2021, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2021, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($39,200 per ton), while the price for France amounted to $10,521 per ton.
From 2012 to 2021, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (-3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Ammonia Exports in Russia
In 2022, exports of anhydrous ammonia from Russia declined modestly to 4.3M tons, waning by -2.7% on the previous year's figure. In general, exports showed a perceptible reduction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when exports increased by 22%.
In value terms, ammonia exports dropped markedly to $1.3B in 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated noticeable growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +4.0% over the last three-year period.
