Aluminium Wire Price in Spain (FOB) - 2023

The average aluminium wire export price stood at $4,221 per ton in July 2023, remaining stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 an increase of 4.9% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $4,412 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major external markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were Finland ($5,177 per ton) and France ($5,095 per ton), while the average price for exports to Portugal ($3,520 per ton) and Italy ($3,576 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium wire import price stood at $2,580 per ton in 2022, declining by -9.8% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 an increase of 26% against the previous year. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $2,861 per ton, and then fell in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the United States ($3,414 per ton), while the price for Germany ($935 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mozambique (+2.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

After three years of growth, overseas shipments of aluminium wires decreased by -8.5% to 42K tons in 2022. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +3.3% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained consistent, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 20% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of 46K tons, and then fell in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium wire exports contracted significantly to $141M in 2022. In general, total exports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +6.0% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +25.8% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 52% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $170M, and then reduced rapidly in the following year.
