Aluminium Wire Price in Romania (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average aluminium wire export price amounted to $3,167 per ton, declining by -5.2% against the previous month. Overall, the export price showed a mild shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in April 2023 when the average export price increased by 7.7% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $3,680 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to July 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the countries with the highest prices were the Czech Republic ($3,971 per ton) and Bosnia and Herzegovina ($3,272 per ton), while the average price for exports to Bulgaria ($2,950 per ton) and Ukraine ($3,140 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Italy (+2.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average aluminium wire import price stood at $3,478 per ton in July 2023, stabilizing at the previous month. In general, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 an increase of 9.8% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,559 per ton in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to July 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($5,200 per ton), while the price for Russia ($2,762 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bulgaria (+4.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Aluminium Wire Exports in Romania

In 2022, the amount of aluminium wires exported from Romania rose modestly to 70K tons, growing by 2.1% compared with the year before. Over the period under review, exports, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern.

In value terms, aluminium wire exports dropped to $169M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +2.6% from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with somewhat noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 29%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of $190M, and then declined in the following year.

Aluminium Wire Imports in Romania

In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in supplies from abroad of aluminium wires, when their volume decreased by -9.1% to 13K tons. In general, total imports indicated a resilient increase from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +12.4% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +42.1% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year.

In value terms, aluminium wire imports reduced markedly to $35M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate strong growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 83%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $45M, and then reduced markedly in the following year.
