Aluminium Wire Price in Australia (CIF) - 2023

The average aluminium wire import price stood at $3,682 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, recorded a abrupt slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2023 when the average import price increased by 110% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $9,125 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the country with the highest price was Italy ($7,804 per ton), while the price for India ($2,449 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Bahrain (+5.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

The average aluminium wire export price stood at $3,677 per ton in 2022, dropping by -25.9% against the previous year. Overall, the export price, however, showed a mild increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 an increase of 50%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $4,965 per ton, and then plummeted in the following year.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was the Philippines ($18,825 per ton), while the average price for exports to Mozambique ($1,883 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Philippines (+19.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Aluminium Wire Imports in Australia

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of aluminium wires decreased by -34.8% to 3.5K tons in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 119% against the previous year. As a result, imports attained the peak of 5.4K tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.

In value terms, aluminium wire imports dropped rapidly to $13M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, recorded a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 180%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $19M, and then contracted sharply in the following year.
