XRP Overtakes BNB as Fourth-Largest Cryptocurrency

According to a report from Yahoo Finance, the cryptocurrency XRP has moved ahead of BNB to become the fourth-largest digital asset by market capitalization. This shift occurred alongside announcements that the associated financial services firm Ripple is broadening its payments services in Brazil and intends to apply for a local operating license.

XRP's price was reported as stable over a 24-hour period and showed an increase over the preceding week, recently trading at a specified value. It reached its highest price point in a month late on a Monday. In contrast, BNB's price declined over one day and saw a modest weekly gain, enabling XRP to overtake it in market cap ranking.

The increase in XRP's valuation has been paired with a significant rise in open interest within derivatives markets, according to data from a tracking platform. This metric saw a substantial percentage increase over a two-week period, which can indicate new capital and stronger trader sentiment.

Ripple is deepening its involvement in new markets by expanding its custody product in Brazil. The company's president described Latin America as a priority region, citing the advanced nature of the local financial ecosystem. The expanded platform is intended to provide regional institutions with tools for the modern financial system.

The firm has a history in Brazil, where it has gradually increased its services. Its solutions currently support financial services for specific banks in the country, handling various transaction types including same-day disbursements, cross-border payments, and settlements using its dollar-linked stablecoin.

As part of its efforts, Ripple will seek a Virtual Asset Service Provider license from the Brazilian central bank, an entity with which it has held discussions. The company initially launched its payments service in the country through a local digital asset exchange in 2024. Institutions in Brazil will now have access to the firm's prime brokerage and treasury management platforms.

Ripple recently initiated a share repurchase program that valued the company at approximately fifty billion dollars. The firm's chief executive has expressed a long-term vision for a significantly higher valuation.
