Unclaimed Baggage Report Details Travelers' Left-Behind Items

A new report from Unclaimed Baggage, detailed by Fox Business, catalogues a range of items left behind in luggage by air travelers. The retailer, which specializes in processing lost luggage that airports could not return, issued its annual Found Report listing notable discoveries.

The company stated that while the vast majority of checked bags are reunited with their owners, a small portion ends up at its store in Alabama. The report highlighted a top ten list of finds, which included a robot, a bionic knee, gold teeth grills, a meteorite, fire poi, a gold bar, samurai swords, a beekeeping suit, gold-plated golf clubs, and a teak didgeridoo.

Among the most valuable items recovered were white diamond earrings, a Rolex watch, a bass clarinet, a leather jacket, and a thermal camera. The report also listed numerous unusual finds, such as a taxidermy deer form, a frog purse, a bayonet, a giant stuffed goose, a long bone specimen, an armadillo purse, sardines, a fake skeleton, rat poison in a suitcase, and a feather bow tie.

Other categorized discoveries included signed boxing gloves from an undefeated champion, a state costume from a pageant, and a Tibetan singing bowl. Pop culture items featured a vintage doll, while music finds included classic cassette tapes. An old commemorative coin was the top currency find.

The top historical item was a leather flight jacket from the U.S. Army Air Force, and a candlestick telephone was the leading tech find. The report noted several packing trends, observing more pop culture collectibles, a move toward attainable luxury, many books, and an increase in items made of gold. According to a previous statement from the company's CEO, approximately one-third of items are recycled and another third are donated.
