A co-founder of Uber has moved to Texas, according to a report from Fox Business. The individual stated the relocation occurred on December 18, prior to the start of the new year.

This move precedes a potential California tax proposal that could affect residents with significant wealth. The proposal, which has not yet been approved for a ballot, would impose a one-time levy on individuals meeting specific wealth criteria if they were state residents at the beginning of 2026. The tax would be due in 2027, with payment options spanning several years.

The individual's departure follows a pattern of other wealthy individuals and business leaders leaving California for Texas in recent years. Florida has also seen an influx of individuals from the finance and media sectors.
