In 2024, South African Imports of Transmission Apparatus Drop by 16% to $1.7 Billion

After two years of decline, overseas purchases of transmission apparatus incorporating reception apparatus increased by 10% to 21M units in 2024. Overall, imports, however, continue to indicate a slight decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 221%. Over the period under review, imports reached the peak figure at 25M units in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2024, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, transmission apparatus imports rose remarkably to $1.9B (IndexBox estimates) in 2024. In general, imports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.
