Rural England Energy Performance Data: March 2026 Release

The Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs has published its latest statistical digest on energy in rural England. The March 2026 release focuses on two specific metrics derived from Energy Performance Certificates.

The updated analysis covers the average Energy Efficiency Score for properties and the proportion achieving an energy efficiency rating of category C or higher. This information is part of a consolidated energy report that began in March 2024, combining topics previously found in separate housing and households chapters.

Supplementary data tables accompany the digest, providing statistics categorized by Rural-Urban Classification. Additional datasets are available at the Local Authority level where possible. The publication follows a series of prior releases on related topics, including off-grid properties, central heating, fuel poverty, and energy consumption.

Previous editions of the energy statistics were published in October and September of 2025, as well as in May and March of that year. The compendium is available through the National Archive.
