Global pipe markets are exhibiting varied trends based on product type and regional demand. In late February, Turkish welded pipe prices increased, while a key segment of the American oil and gas pipe market saw a decline.

Prices for welded pipes in Turkey, primarily used in construction, rose by 18 dollars per ton to reach 595 dollars per ton. This increase occurred despite reported weak demand and regional uncertainty. The price movement aligned with rising costs for raw materials and production, specifically correlating with a concurrent increase in hot-rolled coil prices in the same market.

According to the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in 2025, exports of welded pipes from Turkey increased by 0.11% y-o-y and amounted to 2.1 million tons. A monthly surge in December 2025 was attributed to shipments prepared under a European Union protective quota for early 2026.

Conversely, the average price for OCTG pipes used in oil and gas extraction in North America fell by 11 dollars per ton in February, following a larger decrease the previous month. Market sentiment had been pessimistic, with prices declining even as oil prices rose. The number of active drilling rigs in the United States, a leading indicator for future production, remained near a multi-year low at the end of February, though it saw a slight monthly increase.

Analysis suggests that rising oil prices may offer short-term benefits to producers, potentially increasing drilling activity and pipe demand. However, the presence of a large inventory of drilled but uncompleted wells in the United States could limit any significant new demand for OCTG pipes in the near term.

Separately, Interpipe has reported expanding its product offerings for the mining sector. The company has completed a trial order for a French drilling tool manufacturer and has introduced a new type of pipe designed for challenging extraction environments.
