Netherlands Paper Making Machinery Export Price in April 2023
In April 2023, the paper making machinery price stood at $115K per unit (FOB, Netherlands), reducing by -2.5% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 an increase of 27% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $144K per unit in June 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to April 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In April 2023, the country with the highest price was Belgium ($213K per unit), while the average price for exports to France ($56,770 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+9.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Netherlands Paper Making Machinery Exports
In April 2023, exports of machinery for making up paper pulp, paper or paperboard from the Netherlands soared to 65 units, rising by 33% compared with the month before. Overall, total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from April 2022 to April 2023: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on April 2023 figures, exports increased by +66.7% against January 2023 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in October 2022 when exports increased by 75% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 91 units. From November 2022 to April 2023, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, paper making machinery exports surged to $7.5M (IndexBox estimates) in April 2023. In general, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when exports increased by 42% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 9.9M units in July 2022; however, from August 2022 to April 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Netherlands Paper Making Machinery Exports by Country
The United States (13 units), Germany (13 units) and Norway (11 units) were the main destinations of paper making machinery exports from the Netherlands, with a combined 57% share of total exports.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Norway (with a CAGR of +22.1%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the United States ($2.7M) remains the key foreign market for paper making machinery exports from the Netherlands, comprising 36% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Norway ($1M), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Germany, with a 14% share.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States stood at +10.1%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Norway (+24.0% per month) and Germany (-2.2% per month).
