Japan Wind Power Association and Global Wind Energy Council Partner to Advance Offshore Wind

The Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA) has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) to accelerate offshore wind development in Japan.

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration between JWPA and GWEC to promote knowledge exchange, enhance industry and supply chain networks, and support the sustainable growth of Japan's offshore wind sector.

Through this partnership, the two organisations seek to leverage global expertise and best practices to reinforce the international competitiveness of Japan's offshore wind industry.

Under the MOU, both organisations will facilitate business interactions through networking, business matching events, and participation in trade shows for the benefit of GWEC and JWPA members.

They will also promote engagement and joint initiatives between members of both organisations, organise capacity-building programmes, workshops, and training to enhance the capabilities of offshore wind industry stakeholders, as well as support the development of joint publications on policy enablers to address barriers to the energy transition and technology deployment.

JWPA and GWEC also agreed to engage in regular dialogue to exchange best practices on offshore wind policy and regulatory frameworks, including harmonised standards in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Japan Wind Power Association is a member-based industry association representing approximately 500 companies and organisations engaged in wind power development in Japan, while the Global Wind Energy Council is the international trade association for the wind power industry, representing more than 1,500 organisations across over 80 countries.
