Handmade Paper Price Reaches $2,027 per Ton, Surging 22% in July 2022
U.S. Handmade Paper Export Price per Ton July 2022
In July 2022, the handmade paper price per ton amounted to $2,027, rising by 22% against the previous month. Over the last six months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +3.5%. As a result, the export price attained the peak level and is likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($2,521 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($1,176 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Canada (+3.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Handmade Paper Exports
In July 2022, approximately 301 tons of handmade paper and paperboard were exported from the United States; picking up by 168% compared with the previous month's figure. Over the period under review, exports showed a strong increase. The exports peaked at 374 tons in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to July 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, handmade paper exports surged to $611K (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, exports enjoyed strong growth. The exports peaked at $621K in April 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to July 2022.
U.S. Handmade Paper Exports by Country
Canada (175 tons), India (92 tons) and Spain (12 tons) were the main destinations of handmade paper exports from the United States, with a combined 93% share of total exports.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the biggest increases were in India (with a CAGR of +39.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Canada ($442K) remains the key foreign market for handmade paper exports from the United States, comprising 72% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by India ($108K), with an 18% share of total exports. It was followed by Spain, with a 3.2% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of value to Canada amounted to +27.6%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: India (+32.7% per month) and Spain (0.0% per month).
