GLP Projects Growth in China Logistics and Infrastructure Driven by Domestic Demand

According to a report from the South China Morning Post, GLP is positioning itself to benefit from China's focus on domestic demand through expansion in logistics, data centers, and renewable energy. The global operator and investor anticipates a significant increase in logistics rental rates, supported by stronger domestic consumption and wider adoption of alternative energies.

Angela Zhao, CEO of GLP China, stated that the country's upcoming five-year development plan will reinforce the company's position as a global thematic investor in new economy sectors. She projected that logistics rents are expected to move toward levels seen before the Covid-19 pandemic, representing a substantial potential increase from current figures. In data centers and new energy, Zhao indicated the company is at the beginning of a major growth cycle, with demand only starting to emerge.

GLP manages a substantial portfolio within China, including logistics and business parks across numerous cities, encompassing tens of millions of square meters of property. Its operations in the country also include a significant capacity of renewable energy generation, a portion of which is already connected to power grids.

The Singapore-headquartered firm has been reported to be considering an initial public offering in Hong Kong, targeting a specific valuation, according to a source. Zhao declined to comment on this potential fundraising activity.
