Germany Ethylene Oxide Export Price in August 2022
In August 2022, the ethylene oxide price stood at $1,652 per ton (FOB, Germany), remaining stable against the previous month. Over the last seven-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 15% month-to-month. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $1,793 per ton. From May 2022 to August 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat for the major foreign markets. In August 2022, the countries with the highest prices were the UK ($2,003 per ton) and France ($1,782 per ton), while the average price for exports to the Netherlands ($1,457 per ton) and Slovakia ($1,542 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+3.3%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Germany Ethylene Oxide Exports
For the third month in a row, Germany recorded decline in shipments abroad of oxirane (ethylene oxide), which decreased by -92.5% to 395 tons in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports showed a sharp curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 when exports increased by 145% m-o-m. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 26K tons. From July 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, ethylene oxide exports dropped markedly to $613K (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports faced a precipitous slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in June 2022 with an increase of 152% against the previous month. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $45M. From July 2022 to September 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a lower figure.
Germany Ethylene Oxide Exports by Country
Italy (1.5K tons), Slovakia (878 tons) and Poland (858 tons) were the main destinations of ethylene oxide exports from Germany, together comprising 62% of total exports. Switzerland, Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands and France lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 32%.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the biggest increases were in Switzerland (with a CAGR of +0.5%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced mixed trend patterns.
In value terms, Italy ($2.6M), Slovakia ($1.4M) and Poland ($1.4M) appeared to be the largest markets for ethylene oxide exported from Germany worldwide, together accounting for 61% of total exports. These countries were followed by Switzerland, Belgium, the UK, the Netherlands and France, which together accounted for a further 33%.
Switzerland, with a CAGR of +1.9%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
