Finland Tourism Board Offers Free Lakeland Relaxation Trips in 2026

Visit Finland cites the nation's status as the world's happiest country, linking contentment to regular periods of resetting in natural settings. During summer, many residents travel to Europe's largest lakeland area for activities including sauna bathing, swimming in lakes, and walking in forests. Business Finland's senior director for international marketing noted a growing number of international visitors seek the secret to happiness in Finland, describing Lakeland as a destination many Finns choose for genuine relaxation and a retreat from daily life.

The tourism board is inviting international tourists to apply for a seven-day relaxation-focused journey to the region. Applicants must upload a short video to specific social media platforms introducing themselves and describing what such a summer escape would represent before completing an online form. Required submission details include names, email addresses, social media handles, and countries of residence for all participants.

Eligibility is restricted to international tourists, and at least one applicant in each group must possess a valid driver's license. The application period is scheduled to end on March 29 at a specified evening time in Central European Time. Six pairs will be chosen for the trip, which will take place in June 2026.
