Eco Atlantic Oil & Gas Expands Offshore Portfolio with JHI Acquisition

According to World Oil, Eco Atlantic Oil & Gas has entered a binding agreement to purchase the remaining shares of JHI Associates. This transaction is set to increase the company's exploration presence in the North Falkland basin and offshore Guyana.

The acquisition will provide Eco Atlantic with a working interest in two offshore licenses. It will gain a stake in the PL001 license area in the Falkland Islands and an interest in the Canje block located off the coast of Guyana. The Canje block is operated by ExxonMobil with other partners.

The deal has an approximate value based on Eco Atlantic's share price. Upon its conclusion, shareholders of JHI are anticipated to hold a portion of Eco Atlantic's issued share capital.

The PL001 license is situated next to the Sea Lion development. That development reached a final investment decision and is projected to achieve first oil. The operator of Sea Lion, Navitas Petroleum, has agreed to farm into the PL001 license with a majority interest, pending regulatory consent.

The license area covers a specific range of water depths and contains several exploration prospects identified via seismic data. Past drilling in the vicinity encountered indications of oil, and an independent report provided a resource estimate for the block.

Partners in the PL001 license are engaged with local authorities to obtain a license extension. Under the farm-in arrangement, Navitas will provide financial support for drilling an exploration well and a potential appraisal well.

The transaction also provides Eco Atlantic with an interest in the Canje block, which is north of a major hydrocarbon trend. That block holds multiple prospects identified from seismic data, though its license has expired and talks about a possible extension are continuing with the government.

Completion of the acquisition is anticipated for the third quarter of 2026. It remains subject to approvals from shareholders and regulators, as well as the extension of the PL001 license.
