Daily Scrap Metal Prices: Copper & Brass Up, Others Steady

According to a report from Scrapmonster, daily scrap metal prices presented a mixed picture, with notable increases concentrated in copper and brass categories while many other materials held steady.

The price for several key copper grades moved higher. #1 Copper Wire and Tubing, #2 Copper Wire and Tubing, and #1 Copper Bare Bright each increased by twelve cents per pound. #3 Copper-Light copper also rose by the same amount. Smaller gains were recorded for #1 Insulated Copper Wire 85% Recovery and #2 Insulated Copper Wire 50% Recovery, which each added three cents per pound. Copper Radiator scrap increased by five cents, and Cu Yokes saw a one-cent gain. Prices for Copper Transformer Scrap and several copper-aluminum radiator blends did not change.

In the brass and bronze segment, a marginal overall increase was observed. Specific grades including 70/30 Brass Scrap, 80/20 Brass Scrap, 85/15 Brass Scrap, and Brass Radiator scrap each rose by three cents per pound. Red Brass, Red Borings, and Yellow Brass also increased by three cents per pound. Brass Radiator blends with iron content showed no price movement.

Numerous other scrap categories reported stable pricing. Alternator scrap, Xmas Lights, and a wide range of aluminum grades including 1100 Scrap, 3003 Scrap, and various extrusions saw no change. Several stainless steel grades, including 304 SS Solid and 316 SS Solid, also remained flat. Prices for shredded auto scrap, structural steel, and mixed aluminum turnings were unchanged as well.
