Recent financial reports and earnings calls from major construction contractors reveal a focus on data center projects and anticipated federal transportation funding. According to Construction Dive, executives from several large firms highlighted these areas as key drivers of business activity.

Leaders from Jacobs, Skanska, and Balfour Beatty pointed to significant opportunities presented by the ongoing build-out of artificial intelligence infrastructure. Turner Construction, the industry's largest contractor by revenue, reported record annual revenue, partially crediting work on large-scale data center projects for major technology companies. In contrast, management at WSP expressed caution, suggesting that excessive enthusiasm for AI could be unwarranted and noting investor concerns about the technology's potential impact on professional services firms.

Regarding public infrastructure, companies such as AECOM and Granite are optimistic about a new surface transportation bill under discussion in Congress.
