CMA CGM Implements Multimodal Solutions for Middle East Trade Amid Strait Disruption

In response to navigational constraints affecting maritime traffic in the Strait of Hormuz, the CMA CGM Group is implementing a series of alternative transport solutions. The company's primary focus is the safety of its crews and employees while working to maintain trade continuity for its customers.

The firm is leveraging its global network and integrated logistics capabilities to deploy multimodal options that combine sea, rail, and road transport. These measures are designed to support supply chains to and from the Middle East despite the situation.

Secure Logistics Corridors via the United Arab Emirates

CMA CGM is utilizing ports located south of the Strait of Hormuz, including Khor Fakkan, Fujairah, and Sohar, as strategic entry points. From these locations, the company has established logistics corridors to serve destinations within the Gulf region.

Alternative Road Corridor via Saudi Arabia

Another solution involves the port of Jeddah on the Red Sea. From there, CMA CGM has set up road corridors, with or without maritime connections, for delivery to several countries, including Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Iraq. This configuration also allows for connections to the Mediterranean and Asia without exposure to the strait.

Complementary Road Solution via Oman

A third major alternative uses Omani ports to provide road connections to the UAE and northern Gulf nations. This route combines road and feeder services to offer a reliable option for regional and cross-border logistics flows.
