China's Mould for Glass Price Falls 9%, Averaging $90.1 per Unit

China Mould For Glass Export Price in September 2022

In September 2022, the mould for glass price stood at $90.1 per unit (FOB, China), shrinking by -8.7% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in August 2022 when the average export price increased by 15% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $116 per unit in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to September 2022, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In September 2022, the country with the highest price was Australia ($154 per unit), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($24.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Iran (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.

China Mould For Glass Exports

In September 2022, overseas shipments of moulds for glass decreased by -1.9% to 187K units, falling for the second consecutive month after three months of growth. In general, total exports indicated a notable expansion from January 2022 to September 2022: its volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3% over the last eight months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports decreased by -10.5% against July 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 105% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs at 209K units in July 2022; afterwards, it flattened through to September 2022.

In value terms, mould for glass exports dropped to $17M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, exports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 with an increase of 76% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 19M units in August 2022, and then declined in the following month.

China Mould For Glass Exports by Country

Thailand (46K units), Russia (27K units) and Mexico (16K units) were the main destinations of mould for glass exports from China, together comprising 47% of total exports.

From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the main countries of destination, was attained by Thailand (with a CAGR of +15.0%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for mould for glass exported from China were Russia ($2.2M), Mexico ($2M) and the United States ($1.5M), with a combined 34% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Australia, Thailand, Germany, France, Egypt, New Zealand, the UK, Ukraine, Iran and Saudi Arabia, which together accounted for a further 35%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Thailand, with a CAGR of +12.9%, saw the highest growth rate of the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
