Canada Line Telephone Import Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the line telephone price stood at $61.8 per unit (CIF, Canada), growing by 38% against the previous month. Over the period under review, import price indicated a buoyant expansion from February 2022 to February 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +5.4% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2023 figures, line telephone import price increased by +141.9% against November 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in December 2022 an increase of 99% month-to-month. The import price peaked in February 2023.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In February 2023, the country with the highest price was China ($78.5 per unit), while the price for Malaysia ($48.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+10.9%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Line telephone imports into Canada dropped dramatically to 19K units in February 2023, waning by -46.6% compared with January 2023. In general, imports showed a pronounced shrinkage. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2022 when imports increased by 216% against the previous month. Imports peaked at 123K units in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to February 2023, imports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, line telephone imports dropped notably to $1.2M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Overall, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in August 2022 with an increase of 205% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at 3.8M units in October 2022; however, from November 2022 to February 2023, imports remained at a lower figure.
Canada Line Telephone Imports by Country
In February 2023, Malaysia (12K units) constituted the largest line telephone supplier to Canada, accounting for a 62% share of total imports. Moreover, line telephone imports from Malaysia exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, China (4.8K units), twofold.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Malaysia stood at +3.8%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (-12.4% per month) and the United States (-0.6% per month).
In value terms, the largest line telephone suppliers to Canada were Malaysia ($561K), China ($374K) and the United States ($128K), with a combined 91% share of total imports.
